Theatro of the Peace

The Theatro Ours Lady of the Peace, or simply Theatro of the Peace, bes situated in the city of Belém, the state of Pará, in Brazil, constructed with gained resources of the latex exportation, in the Cycle of the Rubber. Currently it is the biggest theater of the Region North and one of most luxurious of Brazil, with about 130 years of history is considered one of theater-monuments of the country.
It possesss neoclássicas lines and it was constructed in the golden period of the exploration of the rubber in the Amazônia. Its name was suggested by the bishop D. Macedo Coast. Also it was who launched the basic rock of the building, in 3 of March of 1869. The theater also suffered alterations in its façade, after reforms. For example, the amounts of columns in the central entrance of the theater had been reduced. However, its lines general architectural had been kept.
The author of the project was the engineer Jose Tibúrcio Magalhães Pear tree, with small alterations introduced for the distribution of Public works. He was ready in 1874 but, had the denunciations against the constructors, an inquiry was opened and the theater alone was inaugurated its conclusion after.
In the drama of A.D'annery, the two orphans, in day 16 of February of 1878, the Theatro of the Peace was opened the public, to the sound of the symphonic orchestra of the teacher Francisco Libânio Collas. The spectacle was organized by the company of Vicente Bridges of Oliveira. The contract lasted five years and made of Vicente Oliveira the person in charge for the illumination, decoration, choreography and accessories of scene in the theater, beyond organizador of the presentations that if had followed. The Theatro of the Peace, in saying of Leandro Tocantins, " " is a neoclássico monument par excellence;. There Carlos Gomes staged its more famous opera, the Guarani, and the Russian dancer, Ana Pavlova, passed with its sapatilhas. The decorator of this privileged scene was Italian Domenico de Angelis who, later, decorated the Amazon Theater, of Manaus. It was also the author of the beautiful panel representing deuses Greek, Apolo and Diana, in the Amazonian scene that is in the ceiling of the room of spectacles. Of it also it was the ceiling of jover, lost because of an infiltration. This ceiling was repainted in 1960 for another Italian artist, Seting Baloni. In 1904, during the government of Augustus Montenegro, four busts representing music, the poetry, the comedy and the tragedy had started to be part of this scene. During the Cycle of the Rubber, the most famous company lyric if had presented there. The theater lived inesquecíveis moments however, with the decline of the rubber, the Theatro of the Peace passed for bad moments. Without presentations, he was almost always closed, and the restorations were not enough for guaranteeing a good functioning to it.
